Journals I Read

If you want to stay abreast of the latest medical literature you need to READ the latest medical literature…there’s no way around it.  Granted, I don’t read each of the following journals from cover-to-cover, but I do peruse each issue for articles that peak my interest…then I read those articles (again, there’s no way around this).  Most journals that are available in electronic format have Electronic Table of Contents (ETOCs) alerts that send the table of contents from the current issue directly to your email account when it becomes available.  This is usually a free service and can be an excellent way to keep up-to-date with the medical literature.  Try signing up for some ETOCs for journals you’re interested in.

The following is a list of journals that publish literature in my areas of interest:

            American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy

            American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education

Annals of Internal Medicine

Annals of Pharmacotherapy

Chest

            Circulation

Critical Care Medicine

Intensive Care Medicine

JAMA Internal Medicine

Journal of the American College of Cardiology

Journal of the American Medical Association

Pharmacotherapy

The New England Journal of Medicine

The Lancet
